5 Ways You Can Benefit from a Humidifier This Winter
There’s no question that the air we experience in the winter is different than the air we get in the summer. We’ve all pained through the endless chapped lips, itchy skin, and dreaded flu season.
But, what if we told you that you didn’t have to dread the dryness of winter?
Did you know that by simply increasing the humidity levels in your home to 43% or above can significantly reduce an airborne virus’s ability to cause flu infections. According to Noti’s 2013 study, a home with lower humidity saw that 70-77% of viruses could spread simply through a cough. However, when the humidity was 43% or above, only 15% of viruses were able to spread through a cough.
If that’s not reason enough to think about investing in a humidifier this winter, here’s 5 more reasons!
Softer, less itchy skin. A humidifier can help you avoid all kinds of dry skin issues - dryness, dullness, flaking and quicker aging - and main a healthy, glowing complexion.
Comfortable Throat and Sinuses. Avoid that tight feeling we all get in our sinuses during the winter months.
Quicker Healing Times. If you do wind up sick in bed, a humidifier can help you feel better faster by keeping your nose and throat moist and reducing painful symptoms such a coughing and sneezing.
Lower Heating Bill. Moist air often feels warmer than dry air. When you add more moisture to the air in your home, it will feel warmer. Which means you can turn that thermostat down a bit and save on your heating bill.
Better Sleep. If you or someone else in your home has a snoring problem, a humidifier could help. A more moist environment helps your throat and sinuses stay comfortable, which helps encourage a better night’s sleep without all the noise to go along with it.
